The story of Afrina Pale aka Snow

by Safiyah Abdullah

Once, Snow, a woman in the 21st century was driving an eco-car. She saw at the side of the road, an old farmer- woman selling fresh produce – apples picked on the same day. Snow parked before the stall and walked to it. She bought a kilo, the old woman tried to tell her to wash it since she put pesticides on them – but poor Snow had already turned her heels and had a bite in the car. The reaction was immediate – food poisoning. She fell into a deep sleep. So, fortunately for her it was her husband driving, plus, the couple were near their house.

Snow had slept a whole two days. When it was midnight, she woke – while her partner was at the end of the bed covered in a blanket watching Naruto on Netflix, his eyes red, decaf coffee beside him. Clearly, her spouse was so worried that he had insomnia while Snow had a coma. At that moment, she suddenly blurted absent-mindedly “we’re going organic”. 50 milliseconds after that, he slept like a log - not like a baby. Then they continued their daily lives (including paying bills for especially bulk-buying organic items – apples especially!)
